Except as otherwise provided for in approved collective bargaining agreements, in addition to the regular salary or wage rates, officers and employees of the City of Paterson with a hire date prior to July 1, 2020, shall be paid longevity pay as follows:
A. 
For over five years of service and less than 10 years of service: 2% of the regular annual salary.
B. 
For over 10 years of service and less than 15 years of service: 4% of the regular annual salary.
C. 
For over 15 years of service: 6% of the regular annual salary.
D. 
For over 20 years of service: 10% of the regular annual salary.
E. 
For over 25 years of service: 12% of the regular annual salary.
Adjustments in longevity pay shall be made effective the next full pay period following the employee's and city officer's anniversary date. In the case of city officers and employees not heretofore receiving longevity pay, the effective date of this provision shall be in the first complete pay period of 1976. For purposes of this article, years of service shall include all employment and service by city officers and employees in state, county or local government.
