A. 
The Town of Malta has primary responsibility to regulate private land use through citizen planning boards and zoning boards and their actions have a profound impact on state and local land use policies and individual landowners.
B. 
Effective January 1, 2007, a new New York State Law, Chapter 662, requires that a minimum of four hours of training be received by municipal planning and zoning officials each year.
C. 
This article applies to all Zoning and Planning Board members as well as alternates.
It is hereby the Policy of the Town of Malta that each member and alternate member of the Town Planning Board and Town Zoning Board of Appeals obtain four hours of training related to their Board service, by attending and completing those educational courses, seminars, workshops, and the like which have been approved by the Town of Malta Planning Department.
