The City Treasurer shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council pursuant to the provisions of the Illinois Compiled Statutes.
The salary of the City Treasurer shall be established by the Mayor and City Council in accordance with the provisions of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, provided that in the event a member of the City staff or other employee of the City shall be appointed as Treasurer that person shall serve without compensation; further provided that in the event of death, resignation, or other dismissal of the Treasurer from office, the salary shall be computed on a pro rata basis for the portion of the fiscal year served.
The City Treasurer shall take the oath and furnish bond as required by the Illinois Compiled Statutes.
The Treasurer shall perform such duties as may be required by the ordinances of the City.
The Director of Finance shall keep such financial records as are required by the ordinances of the City or the Illinois Compiled Statutes.
The Director of Finance shall keep such financial books and accounts as may be required by the ordinances of the City or by the Illinois Compiled Statutes.
The Treasurer shall execute such financial reports prepared by the Director of Finance as are required by the ordinances of the City or the Illinois Compiled Statutes.
The Director of Finance shall keep a register of all warrants, bonds, orders and vouchers required by the Illinois Compiled Statutes to be filed or paid by him/her.
