[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Northport 7-27-1992 (Ch. 132B of the 1966 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]

The Village Clerk shall be and hereby is designated as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator to coordinate compliance by the Village of Northport with requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The transition plan for required structural changes be and hereby is adopted.
A copy of said transition plan shall be filed and available for public inspection in the office of the Village Clerk.
The following grievance procedure for handling complaints filed under the Americans with Disabilities Act be and hereby is adopted.
All complaints regarding access by handicapped persons to village facilities or alleged discrimination shall be submitted, in writing, to the Village Clerk.
The Village Clerk shall render a decision on the complaint within 15 working days following receipt of the complaint.
If the complaint has not been resolved to the satisfaction of the complainant, it shall be forwarded to the Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees shall review the complaint at the regularly scheduled Board of Trustees meeting first following its receipt of the complaint. Such review shall occur at an open, public session of the Board.
The Board of Trustees shall render a decision on the complaint within 30 days following its review.
A written record of the action taken at each step of the grievance procedure shall be maintained and filed with a copy of the complaint. In the case of action taken by the Board of Trustees, such action shall be recorded as part of the minutes of the meeting.
