The Virginia General Assembly has adopted legislation known as the "Line of Duty Act," Chapter 4 of Title 9.1 of the Code of Virginia (§ 9.1-400 et seq.), whereby benefits are to be paid to certain individuals whose death occurs as the direct or proximate result of the performance of their duties, and it is the desire of the County of Rappahannock, Virginia, that certain fire companies, rescue squads, and combined organizations which provide fire and rescue services within Rappahannock County be recognized as being an integral part of the official safety program of this County in order that such benefits might be available to the members thereof.

The following organizations, and the members thereof, are hereby recognized as an integral part of the official safety program of Rappahannock County and are entitled to all the privileges and benefits of the Line of Duty Act, Chapter 4 of Title 9.1 of the Code of Virginia (§ 9.1-400 et seq.):

The Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company, Inc.;
B. 
The Castleton Community Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.;
C. 
The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company, Inc.;
D. 
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.;
E. 
The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.;
F. 
The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad, Inc.;
G. 
The Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company, Inc.
