The County of Rappahannock hereby establishes the Rappahannock County Building Department, the direction of which is delegated to the Building Official. The Building Official is given all power and authority granted by the Code of Virginia and the Rappahannock County Zoning Ordinance.[1] He is directed to perform all duties of the Building Inspector as provided by state and county law. All acts heretofore taken by the Building Official in the course of his official duties are ratified by the county.

Building permit and inspection fees shall be set by resolution of the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors and shall be kept on file for public inspection in the offices of the Building Official and the County Administrator.

There shall be a local Board of Building Code Appeals as provided in § 36-105 of the Code of Virginia. The composition, duties and responsibilities of the Board shall be as prescribed by the Unified Statewide Building Code.
