A. 
It shall be the duty of the Building Official to examine or cause to be examined all buildings damaged by fire or accident, and whenever any building or part thereof is found to be unsafe for the purpose for which it is intended or used and/or dangerous to the public safety, the Building Official shall notify all parties concerned, including the owner, agent or occupant or person in charge or control of such building, in writing, specifying wherein such danger exists and ordering such dangerous buildings or parts thereof to be removed, taken down, secured, repaired or altered as the Building Official may direct.
B. 
Such owner, agent or occupant or person in charge or control of such building shall, within the time limit set forth in the notice, begin the work necessary to make such building safe and secure or to remove such hazards as are cited in the notice and diligently prosecute the same until the building is no longer classed as a dangerous building.
In the event of failure to comply with such notice, the Building Official may cause any such dangerous building or parts thereof to be removed, taken down, secured, repaired or altered at the expense of such owner, agent or occupant or person in charge or control of such building, and the expenses of such action shall constitute a lien upon the property upon which such building stands from and after the filing of such lien in the town land records.
In the event of failure to comply with such notice, the responsible party shall be punishable as provided in Section 29-394 of the Connecticut General Statutes.
Any person aggrieved by an order of the Building Official may proceed in accordance with Section 29-309 of the Connecticut General Statutes.
