Chapter 268, Connecticut General Statutes, as amended, contains laws
enacted by the State of Connecticut which govern boating activity within the
state. State statutes shall be applicable in their entirety on Rogers Lake.
A.
No person owning or operating a boat of any type or otherwise
using the waters of Rogers Lake shall deposit or permit the deposit or discharge
of any garbage, waste matter or refuse of any kind in Rogers Lake.
B.
No boat with a marine head (toilet) permanently installed
shall be permitted on Rogers Lake.
C.
No person shall place a raft, float or mooring buoy more
than 50 feet from the normal shore nor in such a place that it is a hazard
to navigation. The Rogers Lake Authority shall act as agent for the Towns
of Lyme and Old Lyme in determining hazards to navigation and shall make appropriate
recommendations to the Department of Environmental Protection.
D.
During normal operation, except for maintenance purposes,
all motors must be complete with proper cover, so as to muffle sound and prevent
bodily injury from moving parts.
E.
No boat propelled by an airplane propeller, fan, ducted
fan, or other similar device shall be operated on Rogers Lake.
F.
No person shall operate any boat on Rogers Lake which
is propelled by an engine having a horsepower exceeding 135.
G.
Operation of powered aircraft classified by the FAA as
an airplane, ultra-light airplane or powered hand glider is prohibited on
Rogers Lake.
H.
No person shall tow or fly a para-sail or similar device
on Rogers Lake.
I.
Not more than two water-skiers, aquaplanes, or other
legal recreation devices shall be towed by one boat at the same time on Rogers
Lake.
J.
Waterskiing or towing of any type of recreation devices
is allowed from 10:00 a.m. to sunset only.
K.
Personal watercraft, commonly known as "jet skis," may
be operated from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. only. The hours of operation on Saturdays
and Sundays shall be extended to 7:00 p.m.

L.
The following motor-powered craft speed limits shall
apply on Rogers Lake:
(1)
Year-round, sunset to 10:00 a.m.: six miles per hour.

(2)
In the cove between Hains Park and the adjacent island,
defined by two lines, each beginning at the points of intersection of the
Hains Park property lines with the shore of Rogers Lake to points on the shore
of the adjacent island where the lines form a tangent with the shore of the
island such that the island lies between the two lines, year-round: steerage
way only with no wake.
(3)
From the mouth of the channel entrance leading northward
to the boat launch facility and continuing to northern limit of navigable
waters, year-round: steerage way only with no wake.
M.
No person shall operate a vessel powered by a motor of
any type in the cove at the extreme northwest end of Rogers Lake.

N.
The following directional patterns shall apply:
(1)
Boat traffic on the west side of Picnic Island shall
proceed in a southerly direction only.
(2)
Boat traffic between Picnic Island and Whale Island,
operating in excess of steerage way, no wake speed, shall proceed in a southwesterly
direction only.
(3)
Motor-powered craft traffic operating in excess of steerage
way, no wake speed, shall proceed in a counterclockwise, left-hand-turn flow
pattern throughout Rogers Lake.
A fine of not more than $100 shall be imposed for any violation of this
article.
This article shall take effect in accordance with C.G.S. § 15-136.
