There is hereby established an Inland Wetlands Commission of the Town Of Wallingford pursuant to the provisions of Section 22a-42 of the Connecticut General Statutes.
A. 
Said Commission shall consist of five regular members who shall be electors of the Town of Wallingford, no more than three of whom shall be members of the same political party, and three alternate members who shall be electors of the Town of Wallingford, no more than two of whom shall be members of the same political party.
B. 
The members shall serve without compensation, shall elect a Chairman and a Secretary, shall adopt rules for the transaction of business and shall keep a public record of said Commission's activities.
C. 
The Mayor shall be a member of said Commission, ex officio.
A. 
The regular members of said Commission shall hold office as follows:
(1) 
One to hold office from 3-8-1988 to 3-1-1989.
(2) 
One to hold office from 3-8-1988 to 3-1-1990.
(3) 
One to hold office from 3-8-1988 to 3-1-1991.
(4) 
One to hold office from 3-8-1988 to 3-1-1992.
(5) 
One to hold office from 3-8-1988 to 3-1-1993.
(6) 
From 3-1-1989 and on March 1 of every year thereafter, one to hold office for a term of five years or until such time as a successor has been appointed and qualified.
B. 
The alternate members of said Commission shall hold office as follows:
(1) 
One to hold office from 3-8-1988 to 3-1-1989.
(2) 
One to hold office from 3-3-1988 to 3-1-1990.
(3) 
One to hold office from 3-8-1988 to 3-1-1991.
(4) 
From 3-1-1989 and on March 1 of every year thereafter one to hold office for a term of three years or until such time as a successor has been appointed and qualified.
The members of said Commission, regular and alternate, shall be appointed by the Town Council. Any vacancy in the membership of said Commission shall be filled by appointment by the Town Council for the unexpired portion of the term in which the vacancy exists. Removal from membership shall be in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 2, Section 11, of the Charter of the Town of Wallingford.
