Editor's Note: This ordinance supersedes former Ch. 26, Counseling
Center Committee, adopted 12-8-1971, as amended 6-13-1979.
There is hereby created the Branford Human Services Board.
Said Board shall consist of nine members, who shall be residents of
the Town of Branford.
Members shall be appointed to said Board by the Board of Selectmen in
the following manner:

The terms of office of said members shall be for three
years; provided, however, that initially, in October 1993, there are three
members whose terms expire December 1993, one member whose term expires December
1994, and three members whose terms expire December 1995. Following the effective
date of this chapter, the Board of Selectmen shall appoint two members whose
terms shall expire December 1994. Thereafter, in the month of December of
each succeeding year, three members shall be appointed for a term of three
years.

Vacancies arising for whatever reason shall be filled
by the Board of Selectmen for the balance of the term vacated.
Said Board shall govern the activities and operation of the Branford
Counseling Center, the Branford Social Welfare Department and any other activities
which may be delegated to it. Said Board may adopt bylaws and establish and
implement rules and policies for its operation.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Town of Branford shall serve as an
ex officio member of said Board.
Said Board is empowered to accept any gifts, grants, donations and/or
bequests made to it from whatever source. Any such gifts, grants, donations
and/or bequests shall only be used to further the purposes of said Board.
No funds may be disbursed by said Board without the signatures of the
Town Treasurer, and all funds of said Board shall be audited annually and
shall be made a part of the Town's annual report.
