In the Town of Colchester, it is essential that fire-fighting equipment
respond to alarms without obstruction, danger or inconvenience caused by parked
vehicles.
The Fire Marshal of the Town of Colchester shall have the authority
to designate fire lanes in accordance with the provisions of the State Fire
Safety Code.
The owner(s) of property benefited by the establishment of fire lanes
shall be required to mark the lanes in a manner acceptable to the Fire Marshal.
Parking shall be prohibited within designated fire lanes.
If any vehicles are parked in designated fire lanes, the owners of said
vehicles shall forfeit and pay for the use of the Town of Colchester a fine
of $25. In addition, any vehicles parked in designated fire lanes in violation
of this chapter may be towed away by the Town of Colchester at the vehicle
owner's expense.
