A. 
The proprietor of each hotel, motel, boardinghouse or inn shall keep or cause to be kept a register of guests containing the date and time of registration, the name of each guest, the business and/or home address of each guest, and the date of departure. It shall be unlawful for any such proprietor or his agent knowingly to permit any guest to use a false or assumed name or address in connection with such registration.
B. 
Such registration shall be available for inspection by the Chief of Police, any member of the Police Department, and any member of the State Police Department at any time.
No such proprietor knowingly shall permit any fugitive from justice to stay in his place of business.
The Chief of Police may inspect or cause to be inspected every motel, hotel, boardinghouse, and inn in East Hampton as frequently as may be necessary to ensure compliance with the provisions of this chapter.
Any person who violates any provision of this chapter shall be fined not more than $50 or imprisoned not more than 60 days, or both.
