The Fire Marshal of the Town of East Hampton is hereby directed and authorized to establish fire zone areas within or near any public or private street, highway or passway, when in his judgment, necessary for the safety of the general public, and for the orderly access of fire and other emergency equipment. Such areas shall be restricted "NO PARKING ZONES."
Wherever the Fire Marshal establishes a fire zone, with the approval of the Board of Fire Commissioners, he shall file a copy of his orders with the Town Clerk's office. Such restricted areas shall be clearly marked, at the owner's expense, "NO PARKING-FIRE ZONE — TOW AWAY ZONE." The enforcement of this article shall be the responsibility of the Chief of Police and whomsoever he may delegate.
Violators of this article shall be fined $5, payable to the East Hampton Police Department within 14 days. Violators who fail to pay within this period shall be fined an additional penalty of $5 for every fourteen-day period thereafter that the fine remains unpaid. Towing and storage costs shall conform to rates as established by state regulations and shall be paid by the owner of the towed vehicle.
