A City Planning Commission for the City of Breckenridge, Minnesota, is hereby established.
It is the intention of the City Council by this chapter to carry out the intent and implement the Municipal Planning Act of the State of Minnesota adopted as Chapter No. 670 of the Minnesota Session Laws of 1965 (M.S. § 462.351 et seq.).

The Planning Commission shall consist of seven members appointed by the City Council. Of the members of the Planning Commission first appointed, one shall be appointed for a term of one year; three shall be appointed for terms of two years, and three shall be appointed for terms of three years. Their successors shall be appointed for terms of three years. Terms of office shall expire on March 1. Both original and successive appointees shall hold office until their successors have been appointed and qualify. Each member of the Commission, before entering on the discharge of duties, shall subscribe the oath of office in the form prescribed by § C3-4 of the City Charter of the City of Breckenridge.
All members of the Planning Commission shall receive such compensation as the City Council may determine.
The Planning Commission shall incur expenses and expend money only under the authorization, direction and approval of the City Council.
The officers, employees and departments of the City shall assist the Planning Commission in the exercise of its duties and powers to the extent and in such manner as may be directed by the City Council.
