Except as specifically provided otherwise in this chapter, no person shall be appointed to be a Borough employee unless he/she shall have:
A. 
Filed a written application on the form prescribed by the New Jersey Department of Personnel.
B. 
Must be a resident of Bergenfield at the time of application and maintain residency from the point of application up to and including the date of appointment.

C. 
Qualified by passing the required civil service entrance tests, including written, oral, medical and physical examinations.
D. 
Submit to and pass a medical examination conducted by a doctor designated by the Borough prior to receiving appointment.
E. 
Been certified for appointment in accordance with the civil service rules.
F. 
Met all minimum requirements determined by the Borough and the New Jersey Department of Personnel to be necessary for the position.
