There is hereby established in the Township of Bridgewater the office of Tax Search Officer.
The Township Council shall from time to time designate and appoint a Tax Search Officer, who shall perform the duties provided in and by N.J.R.S. 54:5-11 through 54:5-18, as amended and as the same may be hereafter amended, which duties shall be performed in the manner therein provided and as may be otherwise provided by law.
The Tax Search Officer shall serve at the pleasure of the Township Council and until a successor is duly appointed and qualified.
The Tax Search Officer shall, prior to entering upon the performance of the duties of his office, execute and deliver to the Township of Bridgewater, in its corporate name, his bond, in the amount of $10,000 or such larger amount as the Township Council may from time to time by resolution require, conditioned upon the true and faithful performance of his duties as such Tax Search Officer. A surety company authorized to do business as such under the laws of the State of New Jersey shall be the surety on said bond, and premiums thereon shall be paid by the Township of Bridgewater.

The Tax Search Officer shall receive as compensation for his services such salary, per annum, as may from time to time be provided by resolution of the Township Council, to be paid in equal semimonthly installments.
