The Village of Brewster Board of Trustees establishes the positions of Deputy Village Clerks and authorizes the Village Clerk to make such appointments.

This article shall be referred to as the "Local law creating the position of Village Treasurer."
The definitions of "Village Clerk," "Village Treasurer" and "part time" employment shall be as those contained and codified by the Village Law of New York State and that of the Village Code of the incorporated municipality of Brewster, New York.
Pursuant to the statutory powers vested in the Village of Brewster (the "Village") to legislate for the personnel/administration of the municipal staff to facilitate the daily governance activities and municipal operations to facilitate the health, welfare and safety of the residents of the Village of Brewster, New York, the Village of Brewster Board of Trustees now creates the part-time position of Village Treasurer. It is the intent of the Village of Brewster Board of Trustees that this position be separated from the position of Village Clerk which shall be its own appointed position in accordance with the parameters of the New York State Village Law.
The invalidity of any provision of this article shall not affect the validity of any other provision of this article that can be given full legal force and effect without such invalid provision, nor the force and effect to the existing codifications contained within Chapters 20 and 36 of the Code of the Village of Brewster, New York.[1]
