The following uses and acts are prohibited in the parks, athletic fields and other recreational areas owned and maintained by the Township of Shaler:
A. 
Grass areas may not be used for roadways, parking or for other purposes which may injure or destroy the turf and landscaping.
B. 
Trees, shrubs, hedges, berries or flowers must not be picked, cut, broken or injured in any way whatsoever.
C. 
Structures, fences, benches, signs or other property of the Township of Shaler must not be damaged or defaced in any way.
D. 
Paper, rubbish or any other refuse must not be thrown away or discarded except in receptacles provided for that purpose.
E. 
Firearms and air or gas rifles or pistols may not be used or carried.
F. 
Animals or birds may not be hunted, injured, killed, abandoned or molested.
G. 
No person shall improperly use or falsify documents or other required proof of residence within the Township of Shaler in order to gain admission to swimming pools or other areas restricted to residents of the Township of Shaler. No resident of the Township of Shaler shall transfer to any other person tickets or tags for such swimming pools or other restricted areas.
H. 
Wading and swimming are forbidden in any fountain, lake or other body of water except in areas designated for such wading or swimming, nor may any use be made thereof to contaminate or pollute said waters.
I. 
Lotteries, card games or gambling, drunkenness, disorderly or indecent conduct and profane or offensive language is prohibited.
J. 
There shall be no vehicle washing, cleaning, polishing, lubricating or other vehicle repair or maintenance work done except in an emergency.
K. 
No person shall voluntarily bring, land or cause to descend or alight any airplane, helicopter or other airborne vehicle.
L. 
No intoxicating beverages of any nature shall be permitted.
M. 
No tickets, commodities or services shall be sold, rented or offered for sale or rent except by concessionaires or other persons authorized in writing by the Board of Commissioners of the Township of Shaler.[1]

N. 
No dogs or any other domesticated animals are permitted at any time.

The following uses and acts are permitted in the parks, athletic fields and other recreational areas owned and maintained by the Township of Shaler only in accordance with the following regulations:
A. 
Fires shall not be built or allowed other than in areas or fireplaces provided for that purpose. No person shall throw away or discard any lighted match, cigar or cigarette.
B. 
Public meetings, assemblies or parades may not take place without the written permission of the Township of Shaler Board of Commissioners secured by written application submitted at least 15 days in advance thereof.
C. 
Riding or driving of horses or bicycles or any other nonmotor vehicles is not permitted except on roads and trails provided for that purpose; provided, however, that the riding or driving of motorbikes or motorcycles is prohibited entirely.

D. 
Games, contests or sports are permitted only in areas designated for such uses, and in no case shall such use be permitted in areas where lawn or plantings may be injured or where such games or contests shall interfere with other persons.
E. 
Picnics shall be allowed only in locations provided for that purpose. Persons holding picnics shall clean up and place all wastepaper and other refuse in receptacles provided for that purpose.
F. 
No person or persons shall remain in, enter or be in any Township parks, athletic fields and other recreational facilities of the Township between dusk (sunset) and dawn (sunrise) without prior approval from the Township Manager.

G. 
All motor vehicles, other than motorbikes or motorcycles, shall be operated only on vehicular roadways and at speeds which are proper under the driving conditions. The riding or driving of motorbikes or motorcycles is prohibited entirely.

H. 
All persons shall at all times obey the directions of police officers and parking and traffic signs and instructions.
I. 
The Vehicle Code of 1959, April 29, P.L. 58, as amended, 75 Pa.C.S.A. § 101 et seq., is hereby declared to be in effect in all parks, athletic fields and other recreational areas of the Township of Shaler, with like effect as though set forth herein in full, and the traffic rules and regulations set forth herein are in addition to and supplement the Vehicle Code.

J. 
Leashed dogs and leashed domesticated animals are permitted in Shaler parks subject to the following: i) Dogs and domesticated animals must remain on their leashes at all times; ii) Leashed dogs and leashed domesticated animals are not permitted on playgrounds or surrounding mulched areas; iii) Leashed dogs and domesticated animals will not be permitted in the park any time that a public event is being held in the park. For purposes of this subsection the term "event" includes but is not limited to any organized sporting event, any holiday celebration, any event sponsored or authorized by the Township; iv) All waste must be cleaned up and disposed of in receptacles provided by the Township.

Any person or persons violating the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof before any issuing authority, forfeit and pay a fine of not more than $600 for each offense and, in default of payment, shall be imprisoned for a period not exceeding 90 days in the county jail.

The following uses and acts are prohibited in Kiwanis Park:
A. 
Kiwanis Park is hereby designated a tobacco-free area. The Director of Public Works is hereby directed to post the appropriate signage indicating that Kiwanis Park is a tobacco-free area and that violators will be ejected immediately from the park. The community shall be notified of this section.
