The Board of Health shall consist of seven regular members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Township Committee, one of whom shall be a member of the Township Committee. The term of office for each regular member appointed shall be for three years. The member of the Township Committee appointed to serve on the Board of Health shall no longer be eligible to serve on the Board of Health upon expiration of his term of office on the Township Committee, and such member shall vacate his seat. The Township Committee shall thereafter appoint another member of the Township Committee to fill the unexpired term on the Board of Health held by the departing member of the Township Committee. Vacancies occurring otherwise than by expiration of a regular member's term shall be filled in the same manner as original appointments for the unexpired portion of that member's term only. There are no alternate memberships.
[Ord. #157, § 6; Ord. #1123, § 1]
Members of the Board of Health shall be residents of the Township.
[Ord. #157, § 7]
Members of the Board of Health shall receive no compensation for their services, unless and until the Township Committee provides otherwise by ordinance. Expenses incurred by members of the Board of Health in the pursuit of their official duties shall, however, be compensated for within the amount appropriated by the Township Committee for use of the Board of Health.
[Ord. #157, § 8]
The Board of Health may employ a secretary and such other personnel as provided by law and as it deems necessary, and it shall fix the duties, term of office and compensation of every appointee. Such appointees shall be holders of a proper license as the position to which appointed requires.
[Ord. #157, § 9]
The Board of Health shall have all the powers and duties conferred by Chapter 3 of Title 26 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, as amended and supplemented, N.J.S.A. 26:3-1, et seq., and by any other law or statute, and shall have the power and authority to pass, alter and amend ordinances and make rules and regulations in regard to the public health within its jurisdiction.
