A. 
There shall be a Township Prosecutor appointed for a term of one year commencing on January 1 of the year of his appointment and continuing until his successor is appointed. The Township Prosecutor need not be a resident of the Township, but shall be an attorney-at-law of New Jersey.
B. 
The Township Prosecutor shall receive such retainer, compensation and fee as shall be deemed reasonable by the Council.
The duties of the Township Prosecutor shall include attendance at all hearings in the Municipal Court of the Township, at which hearings the said Township Prosecutor shall serve on behalf of the Township as prosecutor and shall represent the Township in any matter within the jurisdiction of said Municipal Court.
