Increasing demands by persons to examine certain municipal records open to public inspection and for copies of same and for special services of employees have placed a burden upon the time of municipal employees and have increased the use of expensive reproduction equipment and other business machines. Accordingly, to reduce the resulting added cost of municipal operations, the Council determines that the Township should be reimbursed for said added municipal costs and expenses by providing for reasonable copying fees.
The Council may from time to time, by resolution, establish fees to be charged any person applying to copy any municipal record which he may be legally entitled to copy, or utilize the services of municipal employees. Appropriate fees shall be recommended by the Township Manager, and in each case said fee shall relate to the cost of the Township in providing the services or materials requested.
No fee shall be charged for any examination or search made by or any copy of any record or report requested by any local, county, state or federal law enforcement agency or by the federal postal authorities.
