A.
Vacation requests should be submitted no less than 10
days in advance unless there is an emergency, and preferably scheduled well
in advance. Administration/supervisory staff must check that there are not
conflicts with regard to coverage.
B.
All vacation request should be submitted by April 15,
and the majority of vacation time should be taken by Labor Day.
C.
No vacation requests, comp time or personal days are
considered official unless requested, in writing, and signed by the Health
Officer. On occasion, verbal permission may be granted by the Health Officer.
D.
All individuals supervised directly by the Health Officer
must discuss vacation, comp time and sick leave requests with the Health Officer
to ensure that there is not conflict.
If there are any questions regarding salary checks or any personnel
matter, staff should refer questions the Health Officer who will, in turn,
contact the Finance Department.
All requests for supplies should go through the Health Officer.

The Health Officer shall prepare at least one annual evaluation of every
employee under his supervision. Said evaluation shall be submitted to the
employee who shall have an opportunity to submit written comments with respect
thereto. The Health officer shall review said evaluations and employee make
the same available to the Board. The Health comments and officer shall establish
procedures for the effectuation of the aforesaid and may establish procedures
for the more frequent evaluation of employees.as deemed appropriate. Nothing
contained herein shall be construed as requiring the Board to formally consider
employee evaluations.
A.
All staff are expected to submit a monthly report of
their activities to the Board. If staff are typing their own reports, they
should be submitted a week before the Board meeting to the executive secretary
assigned to do staff reports so that these can be copied and included in the
Board packets.
B.
If reports are to be typed by the executive secretary,
they have to be submitted to her no later than the first of the month. Reports
not received by the first of the month will not be submitted to the Board,
and the employee would have to justify why a monthly report was not submitted.
C.
Written reports are an essential part of our professional
responsibilities, and the monthly reports that go to the Board enable it to
get an understanding of our respective roles.
D.
Staff are expected to organize their schedule to allow
time for report writing.
E.
If an employee's vacation schedule overlaps the
first of the month, that employee is expected to submit his report before
going on vacation.
F.
The Health Officer may have a special expectation for
report writing and will alert you of this from time to time. Please date all
reports, and employees have the responsibility of editing and checking their
reports before these are sent to the Board.
