Traffic control signals shall be installed and operated at the intersection of those streets described in Schedule I (§ 245-49), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
The maximum speed at which vehicles may proceed on or along any streets or highways within the Village is hereby established at 30 miles per hour, except that the speed limit for vehicles proceeding on or along those streets or parts of streets described in Schedule II (§ 245-50) shall be as indicated in said schedule.
No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed in excess of that indicated in Schedule III (§ 245-51), in the areas described in said Schedule III, during school days between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The streets or parts of streets described in Schedule IV (§ 245-52), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby designated as one-way streets in the direction indicated.
No person shall make a U-turn on any of the streets or parts of streets described in Schedule V (§ 245-53), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
No person shall make a turn of the kind designated (left, right, all) at any of the locations described in Schedule VI (§ 245-54), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
The streets or parts of streets described in Schedule VII (§ 245-55), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby designated as through streets. Traffic control devices shall be installed on each street intersecting the through street.
The intersections described in Schedule VIII (§ 245-56), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby designated as stop intersections. Stop signs shall be installed as provided therein.
The intersections described in Schedule IX (§ 245-57), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby designated as yield intersections. Yield signs shall be installed as provided therein.
Trucks in excess of the weights indicated are hereby excluded from the streets or parts of streets described in Schedule X (§ 245-58), except for the pickup and delivery of materials on such streets.
A. 
A truck route system upon which all trucks, tractors and tractor-trailer combinations having a total gross weight in excess of five tons are permitted to travel and operate shall be as set forth in Schedule XI (§ 245-59).
B. 
All trucks, tractors and tractor-trailer combinations having a total gross weight in excess of five tons are hereby excluded from all streets except those streets listed in Schedule XI, except that this exclusion shall not be construed to prevent the delivery or pickup of merchandise or other property along the street from which such vehicles and combinations are excluded.
The ingress and egress of vehicles onto or from highways at public parking fields and/or municipally owned parking fields within the incorporated limits of this Village shall be controlled as provided in Schedule XII (§ 245-60).

No motor vehicle shall be operated, driven or parked upon the public highways of the Village of Port Jefferson without first being registered in accordance with the provisions of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York. Upon registration or reregistration of any vehicle required to be registered, a tag or other evidence of registration shall be attached or affixed in such manner as prescribed by the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York. The failure to affix or display such tag or other evidence of registration shall constitute a violation of this chapter.
