The Village of Pleasant Prairie, pursuant to §§ 61.195, 61.197 and 66.0101, Wis. Stats., hereby elects not to be governed by those portions of §§ 61.19 and 61.29, Wis. Stats., which are in conflict with this ordinance.
The office of Village Constable shall be eliminated by the Village Board commencing on May 1, 1991. The incumbent Village Constable shall continue to serve as Constable until May 1, 1991. If a vacancy occurs in the office of the Constable prior to the elimination of the office of Constable, the Village Board may make an appointment to serve the remaining term of the Constable.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
This charter ordinance shall take effect 60 days after its passage and publication unless within the sixty-day period a referendum petition as provided by § 66.0101, Wis. Stats., shall be filed, in which event this ordinance shall not take effect until it shall have been submitted to a referendum vote of the electors and approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon.
