A. 
If an officer discovers a vehicle parked in violation of this chapter, the officer shall:
(1) 
Deliver a citation to the driver or, if the vehicle is unattended, attach a citation to the vehicle in a conspicuous place.
(2) 
Keep a copy of the citation, bearing his certification, under penalty of perjury, that the facts stated in the citation are true.
B. 
The registered owner of the vehicle is presumed to be the person receiving the citation.
C. 
The person receiving the citation under this chapter shall pay for the parking violation directly to Harford County, Maryland, or elect to stand trial for the violation.
(1) 
Election to stand trial shall be made by sending a notice of intention to stand trial to Harford County at least five (5) days before the payment date specified in the citation.
(2) 
If a person elects to stand trial and desires the presence at trial of the officer who issued the citation, he shall notify Harford County at the time the notice of intention to stand trial is given.
(3) 
If proper notification is not given, the officer need not appear at the trial, and a copy of the citation bearing the certification of the officer is prima facie evidence of the facts stated therein.

The fine for parking in violation of county signs as set forth in § 244-2 is $30.
B. 
The fine for a parking in violation of county signs along county roads as set forth in § 244-3 is $25.
C. 
The fine for a parking violation along a snow emergency route as set forth in § 244-4 is $50.
D. 
The fine for a parking violation in a handicapped parking area as set forth in § 244-5 is $140.

The fine for a parking violation in a fire lane as set forth in § 244-17.1 is $120.

A fine for a parking violation in a residential district as set forth in § 244-15 is $25.
G. 
A fine for a parking violation in streets as set forth in § 244-16 is $25.
H. 
A fine for a parking violation on a county parking lot as set forth in § 244-17 is $25.
I. 
The fine for parking in violation of any provision of § 244-17.1 is $25.
J. 
A $5 late fee shall be imposed for every 30 calendar days or fraction thereof beyond the due date of the citation or the trial date, in the event that a trial date is requested, unless the charge has been satisfied or discharged by the District Court of Harford County.
K. 
The fine for a parking violation in front of a curb ramp as set forth in § 244-5 is $75.
Any person convicted of violating the provisions of this chapter not related to parking violations as specified in § 244-20 shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be subject to a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.) for each violation.
