[HISTORY: Adopted by the Township Committee of the Township of Plainsboro 6-13-1977 as Ord. No. 0-77-12. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Tax Assessor shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Township Committee. The Tax Assessor shall assess real and personal property for taxation within the municipality in accordance with N.J.R.S. 40A:9-146 and perform such other duties as may be prescribed for him by statute or ordinance.
Any person who may hereafter be appointed as Tax Assessor shall hold such office for a term of four years computed from the first day of July next following his appointment. In the event the Tax Assessor appointed is unable for whatever reason to complete his term of office, an interim Tax Assessor shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Township Committee, to serve out the remainder of said term.
