[HISTORY: Adopted by the Township Committee of the Township of Plainsboro 3-13-1989 as Ord. No. 0-89-5. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The office of Chief Financial Officer of the Township of Plainsboro is hereby created.
The Chief Financial Officer shall be appointed by the Township Committee after recommendation by the Administrator. The term of office shall be for one year. The Chief Financial Officer shall be a certified municipal finance officer or otherwise qualified in accordance with the requirements of P.L. 1988, c. 110.[1]

A. 
The Chief Financial Officer shall also hold the Office of Treasurer. In this capacity he/she shall be the department head of the Department of Finance which includes the Division of Treasurer, Tax Assessment and Tax Collection. The Chief Financial Officer shall report to and be under the general direction of the Township Administrator.
B. 
The Chief Financial Officer shall perform in accordance with the standards and requirements of the New Jersey Local Finance Board and the job description for this office as the same may be from time to time adopted, amended and supplemented by the Township Administrator. Without limitation, the duties of the Chief Financial Officer shall include the following:
(1) 
Maintaining all books and records.
(2) 
Investment of funds.
(3) 
Preparation of financial reports.
(4) 
Processing of payroll, including all reports.
(5) 
Encumbrance and expenditure of bills.
(6) 
Preparation and sale of debt.
The Chief Financial Officer shall receive the compensation as set forth in the Township Salary Ordinance.
