A. 
The owner or owners, occupant or occupants of each and every dwelling house, store or other building which now fronts or hereafter may front upon any of the streets or public places within the Borough of Hopatcong shall at their own expense cause the same to be properly numbered in accordance with the House Numbering Map on file in the offices of the Borough of Hopatcong.
B. 
All such numbering shall be of a sufficient size to be seen from the designated street or roadway. In the event that the dwelling house, store or other building cannot be seen from the street or roadway, the owner or occupant of same shall erect a sign or other indicator at or near the roadway so as to identify the entrance to said dwelling house, store or building. All lettering and numbering used shall be in a contrasting color to the location where said lettering or numbering is mounted. Only Arabic numerals shall be used.
Nothing contained in this chapter shall be construed as an intention on the part of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Hopatcong to accept any street, road or avenue within the Borough of Hopatcong which is not presently a public street, road or avenue, or to assume any responsibility for the maintenance of any street, road or avenue.

Any person who shall fail to comply with the provisions of this chapter shall be subject to a fine of $10 for each violation. Failure to comply with the provisions of this chapter respecting any separate property within the Borough of Hopatcong shall constitute a separate offense.
