[HISTORY: Adopted by the Township Committee

A Length of Service Awards Program (LOSAP) is
hereby created in accordance with Chapter 388 of the Laws of 1997
(N.J.S.A. 40A:14-183 et seq.), to reward members of the volunteer
emergency services organizations of the Township for their loyal,
diligent and devoted services to the residents of the Township.
A.Â
The LOSAP shall provide for fixed annual contributions
to a deferred income account for each volunteer member who meets the
criteria set forth below; that such contributions shall be made in
accordance with a plan that shall be established by the Township pursuant
to P.L. 1997, c. 388 (N.J.S.A. 40A:14-183 et seq.); and that such
plan shall be administered in accordance with the laws of the State
of New Jersey, the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and this chapter.

The LOSAP shall provide for annual contributions to each eligible member who meets the criteria set forth in the attached Mantua LOSAP Point System.[1]

The LOSAP shall provide for contributions as
credit for no more than five years of prior service for each eligible
volunteer.
The estimated cost of the program has been calculated
as follows:
Each active volunteer member shall be credited with points for volunteer services provided to the volunteer emergency services organization in accordance with the schedule set forth at § 50-2B.
This chapter shall not take effect unless it
is approved by the voters of the Township as a public question at
the next general election. The public question shall appear on the
ballot in the form attached hereto.[1]
