All materials used in any plumbing system or part thereof shall be free from defects.
Each length of pipe, fitting, trap, fixture and device used in a drainage or venting system shall be stamped or indelibly marked with the weight or quality thereof and the maker's mark or name.
All cast-iron pipe and fittings shall conform to the American Society for Testing and Materials Standard Specifications for Extra Heavy Cast Iron Soil Pipe and Fittings (Serial designation A74-18).
All wrought-iron pipe shall conform to the American Society for Testing and Materials Standard Specifications for Welded Wrought Iron Pipe (Serial designation A 72027) and shall be galvanized.
All steel pipe shall conform to the American Society for Testing and Materials Standard Specifications For Welded and Seamless Steel Pipe (Serial designation A53-27) and shall be galvanized.
Brass pipe and copper tubing shall conform respectively to the standard specifications of the American Society for Testing Materials for brass pipe, standard sizes, and for copper tubing, standard sizes (Serial numbers B 43-24 and B 42-24 respectively). Brass pipe and copper tubing shall have fittings of like material.
All lead pipe shall be of best quality and shall conform to minimum weights per linear foot as follows: one-and-one-half-inch pipe, three pounds; two-inch pipe, four pounds; four-inch pipe, eight pounds.
Sheet lead shall weigh not less than four pounds per square foot.
Sheet copper or brass or galvanized iron duct work shall not be lighter than No. 26 Brown and Sharpe gauge, and individual ducts direct to the roof shall be provided for each compartment.
A. 
Plain screwed fittings shall be of cast iron, malleable galvanized iron or brass of standard weight and dimensions.
B. 
Drainage fittings shall be galvanized recessed cast iron, malleable iron or brass, with smooth interior waterway, with threads tapped out of solid metal.
C. 
All malleable iron fittings shall be galvanized.
Brass caulking ferrules shall be of the best quality red cast brass known as "extra-heavy."
A. 
Soldering nipples shall be of brass pipe, iron pipe size or of heavy cast brass, full size, extra-heavy.
B. 
Soldering bushings shall be of brass pipe, iron pipe size or of heavy cast brass.
Floor flanges for water closets shall be revealed and known as "extra-heavy brass."
