An offense against any of the provisions of this chapter shall constitute a violation punishable by a fine of not more than two hundred fifty dollars ($250.) or imprisonment for not more than fifteen (15) days, or both, for each occurrence of the violation. Where it is deemed appropriate, either in addition to or in place of all or a portion of said penalty, the court may, in its discretion, sentence the violator of Article I or II of this chapter to remove litter or graffiti, as the case may be, in a designated area of the town for a designated period of time under the supervision of an officer or employee designated by the court.
