In accordance with the International Building, Residential, Electrical, Mechanical, Fuel Gas, Energy Conservation and Plumbing Codes, which were adopted as the Building Codes of the City, Council hereby creates a City Code Board of Appeal.
The Code Board of Appeal shall consist of five individuals, and two alternate members, appointed by Council, one from each of the following professions or disciplines:
A. 
A registered design professional who is a registered architect; or a builder or superintendent of building construction with at least 10 years' experience, five of which shall have been in responsible charge of work.
B. 
A registered design professional with structural engineering or architectural experience.
C. 
A registered design professional with mechanical and plumbing engineering experience; or mechanical contractor with at least 10 years' experience, five of which shall have been in responsible charge of work.
D. 
A registered design professional with electrical engineering experience; or an electrical contractor with at least 10 years' experience, five of which shall have been in responsible charge of work.
E. 
A registered design professional with fire protection engineering experience, five of which shall have been in responsible charge of work.
Initial appointments to the Code Board of Appeal will be one member for five years, one member for four years, one member for three years, one member for two years, and one member for one year. Thereafter, each new member or reappointed member shall serve for five years or until a successor has been appointed. Alternate members shall be appointed for five years or until a successor has been appointed.
Code Board of Appeal members in attendance at an appeal hearing shall be paid a fee as provided by ordinance.
