The Planning Commission is hereby established and is hereby increased from five to seven members, all of whom shall be residents of the City.

Editor's Note: The Planning Commission of the City of Easton was originally created under the provisions of the Third Class City Code by Ord. No. 11, passed 12-12-1913. The Commission consisted of five members, appointed by the Mayor and Council for a term of five years, all of whom shall be residents of the City of Easton. Planning agencies now are created and appointed pursuant to Article II of the Municipalities Planning Code, with not less than three nor more than nine members, appointed for terms of four years.

The following powers and duties are hereby assigned to the Planning Commission of the City of Easton:
A. 
Prepare the Comprehensive Plan for the development of the municipality, and present it for the consideration of Council;
B. 
Maintain and keep on file records of its action. All records and files of the planning agency shall be in the possession of Council;
C. 
Prepare and present to Council a Zoning Ordinance, and make recommendations to Council on proposed amendments to it;
D. 
Prepare and administer subdivision and land development regulations;
E. 
Prepare and administer planned residential development regulations;
F. 
Prepare and present to Council a Building Code and make recommendations to Council on proposed amendments thereto;
G. 
Prepare and present to Council a Housing Code and make recommendations to Council on proposed amendments thereto;
H. 
Submit to the Mayor a recommended capital improvements program;
I. 
Promote public interest in, and understanding of, the Comprehensive Plan and planning;
J. 
Make recommendations to governmental, civic and private agencies and individuals as to the effectiveness of the proposals of such agencies and individuals;
K. 
Hold public hearings and meetings;
L. 
Require from other departments and agencies of the municipality such available information as relates to the work of the planning agency; and
M. 
Do such other acts or make such studies as may be necessary to fulfill the duties and obligations imposed by this section.

Members of the Planning Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the advice and consent of a majority of the City Council.
