Town of South Berwick, ME Article XI Holidays

§ 31-45 Designation and pay.

A. All full-time employees shall be entitled to holidays as follows:

	New Year's Day	Labor Day
	Martin Luther King Jr. Day	Indigenous Peoples' Day
	Presidents' Day	Veteran's Day
	Patriots' Day	Thanksgiving Day
	Memorial Day	Day after Thanksgiving
	Independence Day	Christmas Day

B. All regular scheduled part-time employees shall be entitled to holiday pay on a pro rata basis if the holiday falls on their regular scheduled work day.

C. The Town reserves the right to pay 1 1/2 an employee's hourly rate for hours actually worked on a holiday or to grant compensatory time off equal to the number of hours actually worked on a holiday.

§ 31-46 Weekend holidays.

When a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the Town Manager shall select a substitute day (a Friday or Monday) that falls within a week of the holiday as the actual day to be observed as the official holiday.

§ 31-47 Vacation holidays.

Should a holiday fall within a vacation period, it shall not be counted as part of annual vacation allowance.

§ 31-48 Eligibility.

To be eligible for holiday pay, an employee must have worked his/her last scheduled shift prior to the holiday and the first scheduled shift immediately following the holiday unless such absence has received advance approval.
