This chapter establishes engineering operations in the Town of Johnston and hereby adopts the following fee schedule for engineering reviews and inspections.
The following shall be the fee schedule for the review of plans providing engineering proposals and details for various development and construction proposals in the Town of Johnston:
Plan Review Fee Schedule
Subdivision proposals involving street construction
$210 per lot
Land development proposals, including but not limited to residential, planned development, commercial, business, and/or industrial major projects
$350 per acre1,2
Business properties - individual sites

Industrial properties - individual sites

Multifamily development projects
$350 per acre1,2
Planned development projects - multifamily properties

Planned development projects - single-family properties

Drainage projects
$1.60 per linear foot, plus $200 per structure (detention/retention facilities)
Flood control and management projects
$350 per acre of project construction area
Street improvements to unimproved and/or substandard streets
$1.60 per linear foot
Water line installation design review
$0.10 per linear foot or minimum $50, whichever is greater
Sewer line installation design review
$50 per structure plus $0.10 per linear foot or minimum $50, whichever is greater
Soil erosion and sedimentation control designs

Residential use:
Single lot

Subdivision, multifamily land development project, and/or planned development project
$300 base fee, plus $25 per acre for each acre over 10 acres
Nonresidential use:
Less than 1/2 acre

Landscaping construction design proposals

$100, plus $2 per linear foot of proposed wall greater than four feet in height
NOTES:
1Areas to be based on the limit of disturbance as shown on plans.
2Amount is incorporated within Planning Board fees for item and applicant will not be double-charged.
3This fee applicable only if a soil erosion permit has been determined to be inapplicable or the review for the construction project is included within another category (i.e., subdivision, land development project, etc.).
The following shall be the fee schedule for the field inspections of various Town-approved development and construction projects in the Town of Johnston as they relate to the engineering plan and detail reviews referenced in § 157-2 of this chapter:
Inspections Fee Schedule
Sanitary sewer main extension
$2 per linear foot plus $50 per manhole plus $50 per service lateral or minimum $50, whichever is greater
Low-pressure grinder pumps
$50 per installation
Subdivision and land development projects - inspection of required improvements
$60 per hour
Inspection of required improvements for all other construction projects, industrial, business, commercial, residential, governmental, highway/street, soil erosion, and the like, that are not classified as a subdivision or land development project
$60 per hour
This chapter shall take effect upon passage and thereupon all ordinances and parts of ordinances inconsistent with same are hereby repealed. Said fees shall be effective for all subdivision and land development projects, pending or otherwise, that have not received, at a minimum, preliminary approval from the Planning Board or those building projects which have not been issued a building permit as of the date of passage.
