[Adopted 10-10-1995 by Ord. No. 957 (Sec. 25-6 of the 1979 Code)]
No official, commissioner, administrator, inspector,
or employee of the Town of Johnston shall undertake the testing of
a water meter from the Johnston water system until procedures delineated
have been followed and fees based upon the attached schedule have
been collected.
A.
A written request for testing of a meter must be filled
out and submitted;
B.
Water Department personnel will ascertain the condition
of the pipes in the domestic system, and, if sound, will remove the
meter and install a jumper pipe. Water used during the test period
will be uncharged. If Department personnel are insecure with the condition
of the piping system, a professional plumber must be retained by the
property owner to remove the meter in the presence of Department personnel;
cost of $35, prepaid.
C.
Meter will be tested by local meter supplier; cost
of $35, prepaid.
D.
Meter will be reinstalled if testing proves it is
accurate to 97%. If Department personnel are insecure with the condition
of the piping system, a professional plumber must be retained by the
homeowner to reinstall the meter in the presence of Department personnel;
cost of $40, prepaid.
E.
A new meter will be installed if the tested unit is
less than 97% accurate. Meter cost will be charged at 1/2 of
the standard cost ($190 at this time). If Department personnel are
insecure with the condition of the piping system, a professional plumber
must be retained by the property owner to install the meter in the
presence of Department personnel; cost of $85, prepaid.
G.
If Department personnel are unable to gain access
to the meter location for reinstallation after two attempts, daily
water fee of $45 will be assessed.
H.
Additional personnel costs will be billed at $35 per
hour.
