All lots and parts of lots in the Village of
Osceola shall be numbered in accordance with a map designated "Street
Numbering Map" now on file with the Village Clerk and at the Village
Hall. All lots and parts of lots hereafter platted shall be numbered
to conform as nearly as possible to the general scheme of numbering
as outlined on such map.
Each owner or occupant shall conform with the
following regulations:
A. House numbers shall be not less than four inches in
height.
B. All houses and buildings shall have numerals not in
script.
C. The numbers shall be conspicuously placed immediately
above, on, or at the side of the proper door of each building so that
they can be plainly seen from the street.
D. Whenever any building is more than 40 feet from the
street line, the number of the building shall be conspicuously displayed
at the street line, near the walk, driveway or common entrance to
such building and upon a gate post, fence, post, or other appropriate
place so as to be easily discernable from the sidewalk.
E. The owner or occupant shall at all times keep the
numbers on the building and in readable condition.
If the owner or occupant neglects to comply with this article, the Police Department shall notify the owner or occupant and provide 20 days' notice within to comply with the provisions of this article. If the owner or occupant fails to comply with such notice within 20 days after the service of such notice, the owner will be considered to be in violation of this article and be penalized. At its option, the Village may seek a forfeiture as provided in §
1-19 of the Village of Osceola Code.
