A.
Employees will complete the county accident/incident
form immediately for all hazardous conditions/injuries and forward the report
to their supervisor. Copies of this report are to be forwarded to the Department
of Administration's office within 24 hours. These reports will be reviewed
by the County-Wide Safety Committee for accident investigation and appropriate
follow-up to avoid similar accidents in the future.[1]
B.
The County-Wide Safety Committee will have semiannual
reports on its meetings/work to the County Insurance Committee. Workers' compensation
accident statistics will be shared with the Safety Committee semiannually
as a means of monitoring accident-reducing endeavors of the Committee.
C.
Safety and accident prevention should be a part of each
meeting of department heads.
D.
All management supervisors shall have safety/accident
prevention responsibilities added to their job description and be a part of
their annual performance evaluation.
E.
A carefully planned safety education and accident control
program should be an ongoing reality in all large departments and be a cooperative
endeavor in small departments. Department heads shall take the initiative
for such efforts and be assisted by the County-Wide Safety Committee.
F.
A system shall be established in each building whereby
suggestions can be submitted in writing for the correction of safety hazards,
both conditions and acts.
H.
The County Board Chairperson shall biannually appoint
one interested County Board Supervisor to serve on the Safety Committee.
