[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Madison 2-8-1993. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The purpose of this policy is to determine which social service agencies will receive Board of Selectmen support for appropriation of local dollars. Agencies providing charitable or social services in Madison and which request local dollars will, for funding purposes, prioritize requests based upon how the request matches the needs of the community. This policy is established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of agencies.
An agency submitting a request will provide the following information: name of agency, agency address and contact, amount of request, historical Town support to the agency, what services this funding will help provide, how many people in the community would be served, references, a summary budget sheet itemizing agency revenues and expenditures, and other relevant financial information about the agency.
The following criteria will be used to evaluate agency requests: total budget of agency, source of core funding, availability of references or grant compliance documentation from source of core funding, amount of budget going towards administrative overhead, comparison with similar providers in other regions, and references from clients.
Agencies will be considered for funding, if agency has been funded in previous year by Town; and if agency is funded by Somerset County it will not be funded.
