There is hereby created within the Township of Franklin a part-time position known as "Secretary to the Zoning Officer of the Township of Franklin" for the purpose of providing clerical and typing assistance to the Zoning Officer of the Township of Franklin, including filing of documents and such other clerical duties as may be assigned by the Zoning Officer. The person appointed as Secretary to the Zoning Officer shall work under the supervision of the Zoning Officer and shall perform all clerical work and typing required by said position.
The person appointed as Secretary to the Zoning Officer shall have typing skills and shall have the ability to read and understand the land use laws of the Township of Franklin. Appointment to said position shall be made by the Township Committee of the Township of Franklin, which appointee shall thereupon become an employee of said township.
The person appointed to the position of Secretary to the Zoning Officer shall be compensated retroactive to March 1, 1987, as provided in the Salary Ordinance[1] adopted from time to time by the Township of Franklin, but shall be employed on a part-time basis. In no event shall employment of the Secretary to the Zoning Officer exceed the sum appropriated for said position in the annual budget. The rate of pay and working hours of the Secretary to the Zoning Officer may be changed from time to time by amendment to this chapter or by inclusion of said position in the Salary Ordinance of the Township of Franklin.
