The Board of Trustees of the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson is hereby
authorized to hire such numbers of school crossing guards as it shall deem
necessary to direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic during such times as
school is in session.
The placing, training and direction of the said school crossing guards
shall be at all times under the direction and control of the Chief of Police
of the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson.
In the interests of public safety, all school crossing guards so employed
shall, while engaged in their activities, be suitably dressed in a distinctive
official uniform which shall be furnished and paid for by the village. Said
uniform shall remain at all times the property of the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson
and shall be returned to the village upon the completion of the employment
of the school crossing guard.
