This article shall be known and may be cited as the "Washington Township Maximum Speed Ordinance." This article is enacted in conjunction with and under the authority of and within the terms and provisions of the Act of Assembly of the Commonwealth known as the "Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Code," as amended.[1]

This article is enacted pursuant to the provisions of 75 Pa.C.S.A. § 6109(a)10 and Subchapter F of Chapter 33 of the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Code.[1]

B. 
The purpose of this article is to impose a maximum speed limit on certain roadways situated in Washington Township which are under the jurisdiction of Washington Township.

A. 
At and after the effective date of this article, the maximum speed for the following roads shall be as indicated, and no person shall drive a vehicle at a speed in excess thereof:

B. 
The maximum speed for the roads as set forth in Subsection A above shall be posted at the beginning and the end of the roads as set forth above and at intervals in between of not greater than 1/2 mile.
C. 
Penalty. Any person violating this article is guilty of a summary offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $35. Any person exceeding the maximum speed limit by more than five miles per hour shall pay an additional fine of $2 per mile for each mile in excess of five miles per hour over the maximum speed limit.
