A. 
As used in this Article, "exotic animal" shall mean:
1. 
An animal not generally accustomed to being in or near human population.
2. 
Any animal that is not customarily regarded as being domesticated.
3. 
Any deadly, dangerous or poisonous reptile or arachnid or any deadly or dangerous reptile over eight (8) feet long.
4. 
All predatory birds.
5. 
All animals protected from hunting and capture by Federal and State law.
6. 
Any creature whose size, inherent characteristics, physical attributes, or dangerous propensities make it a threat to human life or limb.

Any restrictions on the keeping of such animals shall not apply to traveling entertainment shows such as circuses, so long as exotic animals which may be a part of such shows are confined in such a manner as to reasonably provide safe separation between the exotic animal and the general public.

The owning, keeping or harboring of any of the above-defined exotic animals within the City limits of Canton, Missouri, shall be unlawful.

Any said person violating this Article shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor.
