A. 
It is hereby provided that there shall be a Chief of Police of the City of Rock Port, who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the consent and approval of the Board of Aldermen.
B. 
The salary of the Chief of Police is fixed from time to time by the Board of Aldermen.

A. 
The Mayor may, subject to the approval of the Board of Aldermen, appoint as many as five (5) regular Policemen to aid and assist the Chief of Police in the enforcement of the laws of the City or of the State and shall fix the compensation of such Police. They shall have the power to serve and execute all warrants, subpoenas, writs and other process, and to make arrests in the same manner as the Chief of Police.
B. 
The Mayor, with the consent and approval of the Board of Aldermen, may also appoint an additional six (6) special Policemen who shall serve during such times and emergencies as may be determined by the Mayor. Their duties and the compensation to be paid for their services and the hours during which they shall act shall be determined by an ordinance adopted by the Board of Aldermen.

A. 
All newly hired Peace Officers shall be required to have no more or less than one hundred twenty (120) hours of training for certification by the Department of Public Safety.
B. 
Newly hired Law Enforcement Officers shall have a one (1) year period after appointment to be certified by the Director of Public Safety.

The Board of Aldermen does hereby adopt and establish a safety program for the City of Rock Port, Missouri, which shall be on file in the City offices, titled "Policies and Procedures, Safety Program" and which is incorporated herein by reference as though fully set forth herein and which shall be understood to include any modifications, additions or amendments to said Policies and Procedures, Safety Program, which shall occur by enactment of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Rock Port, Missouri, subsequent to the date herein.
