There is hereby established on the premises hereinafter described
an additional municipal parking lot, to be designated as "Municipal
Parking Lot No. 5."
Municipal Parking Lot No. 5 shall be located in the rear of
the Municipal Building at 8 Springfield Avenue, in Block 16 on the
official Tax Map of the Township.
A.
Fourteen parking spaces shall be provided immediately adjacent to
the Municipal Building, which spaces shall be utilized only for the
purpose of parking municipal vehicles owned and operated by the Township
of Cranford and for no other purpose.
B.
Visitors' parking spaces shall be provided in this parking lot, which
spaces may be utilized for the purpose of parking vehicles for a maximum
period of one hour between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on
Mondays through Saturdays, except legal holidays, by visitors having
business at the adjacent Municipal Building.
C.
Nine parking spaces will be designated for department heads and members
of the Township Committee of the Township of Cranford, New Jersey.
All other parking areas in this lot shall be utilized at any time
for Cranford municipal employee parking only and for no other purpose.
D.
No person shall park or permit any vehicle to remain parked in this
lot between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. except on-duty police
officers.
E.
If any vehicle is parked in any parking area herein provided for
in violation of the provisions of this article, the Police Department
may cause such vehicle to be removed to such a place as is designated
by the Chief of Police. The owner or operator of any vehicle so removed
shall pay the reasonable cost and expense of such removal and storage
which may result.
F.
The Chief of Police may designate certain parking spaces for handicapped
persons. Such spaces shall be properly posted and shall be available
only to vehicles with proper special identification as belonging to
handicapped persons. Such designation as handicapped person spaces
shall conform in all ways to the appropriate state statute and regulations.
G.
Issuance of permits.
(1)
The Township Administrator or designated representative is hereby
authorized to issue to persons employed by the Township of Cranford
permits for the parking of motor vehicles in the parking permit areas.
(2)
The applicant shall fill out a form provided by the Township Administrator
or designated representative giving the applicant's name and address
and the registration number of the automobile for which the applicant
desires a parking permit.
(3)
The Township Administrator or designated representative will enter
the registration number on a sticker to be issued to the applicant.
