Nothing in this article shall be construed so as to exempt electric
vehicles from vehicle rules and regulations set forth elsewhere in
Pleasantville's ordinances.
Nothing in this article shall be construed so as to prohibit the
installation of private electric vehicle supply equipment for the
charging of vehicles parked on private property.
Parking spaces for charging electric vehicles established in this
article shall be those located adjacent to electric vehicle supply
equipment sited and installed by the City of Pleasantville. Siting
shall be subject to the consultation of the Chief of Police, Director
of Public Works, City Engineer, and City Planner.
Parking in these spaces shall be limited to actively charging electric
vehicles. Electric vehicles are not permitted to park in spaces designated
for electric vehicle charging if the vehicles are not plugged in and
charging. Owners and operators of nonelectric vehicles or noncharging
electric vehicles parked in an electric vehicle charging parking space
shall be considered in violation of this article.
The City Council of the City of Pleasantville shall be permitted
to establish a fee schedule for charging costs at the consultation
of the City's engineering, planning, and financial staff.
The City Council of the City of Pleasantville shall be permitted
to lease and/or purchase services related to the installation, maintenance,
and operation of public EVSE.
The Chief of Police shall, at the consultation of the City's engineering,
planning, and public works staff, erect signage indicating the presence
of electric vehicle supply equipment at the equipment's site/parking
space.
Signage shall indicate the limitations and conditions of the space's
use, a contact number for reporting malfunctions, a reference to the
ordinance's violation/penalties, and that the space is reserved for
charging electric vehicles only.
Violations and penalties. Any individual, person, or entity found guilty of a violation of this article shall be subject to penalties described at § 278-4.
