A. 
Appointment. The Village Clerk shall be appointed by the Village President subject to confirmation by a majority of the Village Board.
B. 
Term. The Village Clerk shall hold office for an indefinite term, subject to removal as provided in § 17.13(1), Wis. Stats.
C. 
Duties. The Village Clerk shall perform all duties as provided by law and those other duties as the Village Board directs to be executed by the Clerk from time to time.
D. 
Deputy Clerk. The Clerk may appoint a Deputy Clerk, subject to confirmation by a majority of the Village Board. The Deputy Clerk shall have an indefinite term of office. The Deputy Clerk shall act under the Village Clerk's direction and, during the temporary absence or disability of the Village Clerk or during a vacancy in such office, shall perform the duties of Village Clerk. The acts of the Deputy shall be covered by official bond as the Village Board shall direct.
E. 
Combination with Treasurer. The offices of Village Clerk and Village Treasurer shall be consolidated and the duties of both offices shall be performed if at any time the same person shall be appointed or acting as both Village Clerk and Village Treasurer. At such time that the same person shall be appointed as Village Clerk and Village Treasurer and the duties combined, the appointed person shall be referred to as the "Village Clerk-Treasurer." The consolidation of the offices of Village Clerk and Village Treasurer and the duties of both offices shall continue until such time as the same person is not serving as both Village Clerk and Village Treasurer.

The Deputy Treasurer shall act under the Village Treasurer's direction and, during the temporary absence or disability of the Village Treasurer or during a vacancy in such office, shall perform the duties of Village Treasurer. The acts of the Deputy shall be covered by official bond as the Village Board shall direct.
E. 
Combination with Clerk. The offices of Village Clerk and Village Treasurer shall be consolidated and the duties of both offices shall be performed if at any time the same person shall be appointed or acting as both Village Clerk and Village Treasurer. At such time that the same person shall be appointed as Village Clerk and Village Treasurer and the duties combined, the appointed person shall be referred to as the "Village Clerk-Treasurer." The consolidation of the offices of Village Clerk and Village Treasurer and the duties of both offices shall continue until such time as the same person is not serving as both Village Clerk and Village Treasurer. The Village Board may order an audit of the financial records of the Village Clerk-Treasurer at any time to be performed by a certified public accountant selected by the Village Board.
(1) 
The incumbent elected Village Clerk and Village Treasurer shall continue to serve until the appointment and confirmation of a Village Clerk and Village Treasurer.
(2) 
This is a charter ordinance and shall take effect 60 days after its passage and publication unless within such sixty-day period a referendum petition as provided by § 66.0101(5), Wis. Stats., shall be filed, in which event this article shall not take effect until it shall have been submitted to a referendum vote of the electors and approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon.

The Village Clerk shall properly post or publish this article as required under § 61.50, Wis. Stats.
