The office of Part-Time Public Safety Telecommunicator in and for the Borough of Paramus is hereby created, subject to the provisions of this article.
The Part-Time Public Safety Telecommunicator shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council.
The Part-Time Public Safety Telecommunicator shall receive such compensation as shall be fixed, from time to time, by the general salary ordinance of the Borough of Paramus.
The Part-Time Public Safety Telecommunicator shall meet the following requirements:
A. 
Certification. Appointees are required to possess NJ approved certification in basic telecommunications, emergency medical dispatch and CPR.
B. 
Availability. Appointees are required to submit a minimum of 40 hours of availability monthly.
Under direction, receives and responds to telephone or other electronic requests for emergency assistance, including law enforcement, fire, medical, or other emergency services and/or dispatches appropriate units to response sites; does related work as required. (NOTE: The examples of work for this title are for illustrative purposes only. A particular position using this title may not perform all duties listed in the job specification. Conversely, all duties performed on the job may not be listed.)
