The office of Public Health Supervisor in and for the Borough
of Paramus is hereby created, subject to the provisions of this chapter.
The Public Health Supervisor shall be appointed by the Mayor
with the advice and consent of the Council.
The Public Health Supervisor shall receive such compensation
as shall be fixed, from time to time, by the general salary ordinance
of the Borough of Paramus.
The Public Health Supervisor shall meet the following requirements:
A. Education. Graduation from an accredited college or university with
a master's degree in public health or public health administration.
B. Experience. Two years of administrative experience in public health,
specifically in planning, organizing and directing a wide range of
public health programs and initiatives, knowledge of public health
laws and regulations, grant management, grant fiscal management, community
outreach efforts and program evaluation.
C. Work.
(1) Examples of work:
(a)
Under direction, supervises assigned employees in developing
and administering public health programs and activities, including,
but not limited to, environmental health services, maternal and child
health services, public health nursing services, communicable and
chronic disease control services, public health laboratory services
and health education services.
(b)
Works with community groups to help them to recognize public
health problems and the methods of solving them.
(c)
In the absence of the Health Officer, assumes responsibility
for supervising the agency and its functions.
(e)
Establishes and maintains records and files.
(f)
Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic
and manual information systems used by the agency, office or related
units.
