Any and all persons interested in or owning buildings in this City are required to call at the office of the Assessor of said City to ascertain the number belonging to their building or buildings, respectively, and affix to such building or buildings the appropriate number or numbers, which shall be certified to by the Assessor. Such numbers shall be made in proper form and of proper material and shall be affixed in an appropriate place upon such buildings as aforesaid, respectively.

Any owner of any newly erected building or buildings shall have affixed to such building or buildings the appropriate number within 30 days after the time such building or buildings shall be ready for occupancy, such number to be in proper form and to be made of proper material.
An offense against the provisions of this chapter shall constitute a violation under the Penal Law and shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $250 or by imprisonment for not more than 15 days, or both.
